Retrofit Assessment

A retrofit assessment provides a tailored understanding of an existing property. It will explore what could be upgraded to support the property to become more energy efficient. It brings together information about the property, its condition, its energy performance and the way it's occupied.

A retrofit assessment identifies improvements such as insulation, heating upgrades, or renewable energy systems that can lower energy use and reduce monthly costs alongside added comfort and sustainability.

It brings together information about the property, it's condition, its energy performance and the way it's occupied.

What a retrofit assessment considers

Depending on the project requirements, the assessment brings together:

  • An assessment of the property’s energy performance

  • Property construction and dimensions

  • Existing insulation and building services

  • The condition of relevant elements

  • Ventilation arrangements

  • Signs of damp, condensation or defects

  • Occupancy and household requirements

  • Floor plans and photographic evidence

  • Constraints that could influence proposed improvements

The collected information is used by the appropriate project professionals, including the Retrofit Coordinator and Retrofit Designer, to develop and manage the improvement strategy.

A retrofit assessment takes a whole-house approach. This means that rather than treating one issue at a time, a retrofit assessment considers how different improvements work together.

This can help create a staged plan that fits a budget, possibly access funding and grants and avoids unintended consequences.

Who we work with

Retrofit assessment enquiries are welcomed from:

  • Retrofit Coordinators

  • Retrofit installers

  • Energy and compliance consultancies

  • Housing associations

  • Local authorities

  • Managing agents

  • Landlords and portfolio owners

  • Contractors delivering funded programmes

  • Private homeowners planning coordinated improvements

When conducting retrofit assessments, we'll inspect your property and creates a report which reviews the property's current condition and energy performance. The report will contain recommendations such as insulation, heating upgrades, ventilation improvements, windows, and/or renewables. It’ll also highlight expected impacts and the estimated effects on energy use, running costs, comfort, and carbon emissions.
